Maurice Journeau in NORMANDY : from piano to orchestra at Verneuil s/Avre

The peaceful, nearly meditative piano work "Midi aux champs" op. 27 was much loved by the french composer Maurice Journeau (1898-1999), playing it very often at home in the evening. He composed it at Verneuil-sur-Avre in Normandy on July 1943. And then he wrote its orchestral version. And there we find an interesting result due to different music instruments and maybe another composer's mood, using stronger, lively sounds (Henry Lemoine, publisher in France). Another July atmosphere for a Summer concert!
